Comedian creates World Cup drinking game in honour of Rangers and Scotland legend
A comedian has created a World Cup drinking game in honour of Rangers and Scotland legend Ally McCoist.
Olaf Falafel's bingo style game is based on the retired striker's most-used phrases during his spells as a co-commentator.
McCoist was voted the UK's favourite co-commentator last year and is working on STV and ITV's World Cup coverage.
And football fans can now play along while watching matches at the tournament.
Falafel made up a bingo card complete with 12 statements the former Rangers player and manager regularly makes while on punditry duty.
And the game will see players taking a shot everytime they hear one of the phrases.
Posting the bingo card on his Facebook page, the Englishman wrote: "You’ll need this for the rest of the World Cup."
The bingo card says, "have a shot everytime you hear one of these" and contains phrases such as "I don't mind telling you", "take nothing away from", "I have to say", "it really is" and "bruyyant!!!".
"Make no mistake about it", "at this moment in time", "I tell you what", "dear me", "by the way", "I will tell you something", and "he repeats a phrase" complete the card.
The game has gone down a storm with fans, with many flocking to the comments section to tell Falafel how much they love the idea.
Rob Spindler said: "If you play this drinking game you won’t remember the second half."
Scott Donald Hunter wrote: "I will tell you something by the way, that's a great idea, great idea it really is.
"Take nothing away from it...but I tell you what, I have to say and I don't mind telling you...
"Make no mistake about it, at this moment in time I'd be p****d after ten minutes doing this! Dear me, bruyyant!!"
Steve Chadwick added: "Ally is still the best pundit on TV but I agree I'd be bladdered by full time."
Lloyd Byrne said: "I’d be out of it before the first drinks break", and David Barr added: "And he's still the best co commentatator by a mile, Super Ally."
But some fans said the list was incomplete, and gave phrase suggestions of their own.
"However", "that's terrific", "shuperb", "correct", "absolutely" and "to be brutally honest" were among some of the extra phrases suggested by fans.
McCoist, who scored 355 goals for Rangers and a screamer for Scotland against Switzerland at Euro 96, was voted the UK’s favourite co-commentator last year.
The 63-year-old, who also played for St Johnstone, Sunderland and Kilmarnock, came top in a poll run by bookmaker Coral.
Falafel is also an author, and illustrator and won Funniest Joke of the Edinburgh Fringe in 2019.
