Rangers "delighted" to appoint Derek McInnes as manager as he's "exactly what this club needs"
Rangers have officially unveiled Derek McInnes as the club's new manager - with Chairman Andrew Cavenagh saying he is "exactly what this club needs".
Lifelong Rangers fan McInnes takes over at Ibrox following Danny Röhl's departure to Austrian Bundesliga side RB Salzburg.
Announcing the 54-year-old's move from Hearts, Rangers said: "We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Derek McInnes as our new men's first-team manager on a three-year contract.
"Joining him will be assistants Alan Archibald, Paul Sheerin and Craig Clark."
McInnes, who played at Ibrox between 1995 and 2000, guided Hearts to a second placed finish last season.
And Rangers Chairman Andrew Cavenagh has hailed his new manager and said he is the perfect fit for the club going forward.
He said: "I am delighted to welcome Derek to Rangers. He is someone we have always rated highly, and we believe he is exactly what this club needs at the moment.
"His deep Scottish and Rangers experience are important for us. He knows how to win in this league, and he is coming off an extremely strong season with Hearts."
