Scots cops hunt female knife thug after man stabbed in street as kids walk home from school
Police are hunting a female knife thug after a man was stabbed in a broad daylight attack outside a popular cafe as kids walked home from school.
Youngsters were still heading home as the man was set upon in Glasgow Street, Ardrossan, yesterday, Monday, October 5, 2026.
The 38-year-old rushed into the town's Cafe Palazzo where staff helped him before he was rushed to hospital.
Police Scotland confirmed officers are now probing the attack, which took place around 4.15pm.
A source said: "The guy was attacked outside the Palazzo and ran in there for help.
"As usual, the cafe was packed with people sitting inside eating.
"The guy burst into the place shouting that he had been stabbed.
"He was obviously in a panic and in a lot of pain and nobody was expecting it.
"The staff were great, they grabbed towels and helped him until the emergency services got there.
"The local school, Ardrossan Academy, finishes at 3.40pm on a Monday and this was just after 4pm.
"There were still kids walking home when it happened.
"It's crazy to think someone is running about with a knife and stabbing someone with it at that time of the day when the kids are still making their way home from school.
"Everyone is saying that it was a woman that did it and that she used a machete.
"Whatever the truth behind it, it's scary it happened at all, but especially in the middle of the afternoon."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.15pm on Monday, 5 October, 2026, we received a report of a serious assault in the Glasgow Street area of Ardrossan.
“Officers attended and a 38-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
The Scottish Ambulance Service was also approached for comment.
