An "alpha male" offshore worker has been jailed for carrying out a life-threatening attack on his girlfriend.
Towering Danny Daggett was described as a doting dad who spends as much time as possible with his children when he isn't offshore.
But he won't spend Christmas with his kids and will be celebrating behind bars after being jailed over the assault.
Heavily built Daggett, who stands well over 6ft tall, beat his girlfriend so badly he knocked her unconscious.
The 43-year-old repeatedly punched her on the head, knocking her to the ground, following a drinking session.
The attack took place while children were in the property, with one child seeing her lying unconscious on the floor.
She later woke up in hospital wondering what had happened and now suffers from mental health problems as a result of the attack.
Englishman Daggett, whose address was given on court papers as Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, denied assaulting his partner, claiming he had acted in self defence.
But a jury at Paisley Sheriff Court convicted him of carrying out a life-threatening assault at a property in Paisley, Renfrewshire, on January 28 last year.
He returned to the dock on Friday, December 19, 2025, to be sentenced.
Sheriff Bruce Erroch said: "I heard the evidence in the case at your trial.
"You were found guilty of a serious offence.
"You punched her on the head and knocked her to the floor.
"She was knocked unconscious and the assault was to her injury and to the danger of her life.

"There was a high degree of culpability and the jury accepted it was to the danger of her life.
"I consider there's no alternative to a custodial sentence in this matter."
He jailed Daggett, who had been on bail, for 15 months.
Advocate Shaun Alexander had asked for him to be spared prison, saying he could carry out unpaid work and attend a programme for domestic abusers.
He said: "He went too far in what he did and he accepts he has to face the consequences of that.
"He accepts his actions caused the complainer to fall and also lose consciousness.
"He had a toxic relationship with her. He stated he wished he could contact her and apologise.
"He is now in a very loving and stable relationship with his current partner."
The advocate said he also had a good relationship with the mother of his children, aged 14 and eight, and was "an alpha male" who "supports the family financially".
He said there had been no incidents with the mother of his children or his new partner, and that the kids' mum had wrote a letter in support of him.
He added: "He will do anything it takes to avoid a custodial sentence."
But Sheriff Erroch said he had been assessed as posing "a significant risk to intimate partners" as he jailed him.
He also made him the subject of a Non-Harassment Order, banning him from having any contact with his ex for five years.
His current partner ran from the courtroom in tears at the news he was being jailed.
Daggett looked back to say goodbye to her as he was led away in handcuffs to begin his sentence, but she had already gone.
