Scots thug in fate wait over attempted murder of Estate Agent girlfriend after drink and drug session

A thug who left his partner brain damaged and scarred for life in an attempt to kill her following a drink and drug session has to wait to learn his fate.
Stephen Pollock was due to be sentenced this week for trying to kill Estate Agent partner Channelle Stewart in a savage attack in Clydebank, near Glasgow.
A court was told that he left her with brain damage after repeatedly stamping and jumping on her head.
She was also left with two large scars after her wounds were treated by medics, and her injuries were so severe that she was repeatedly projectile vomiting for two days.
Her eyes were also swollen shut, meaning doctors were unable to check her vision, and Pollock was due to be sentenced over the attack on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
But a background report from social workers, which had been requested by Temporary Judge John McCormick to advise him on how to deal with Pollock, had not been prepared.
Sentencing was postponed until next month as a result and Pollock, who was convicted last month and remanded in custody ahead of sentencing, is now set to learn his fate next month.
Pollock, of Old Kilpatrick, West Dunbartonshire, had denied attempting to murder Miss Stewart and went on trial at the High Court in Paisley.
A jury found the 32-year-old guilty of trying to kill her at the property in question on May 18, 2023.
He grabbed her by the hair and pulled her hair, struck her head off a wall and repeatedly punched her on the head, causing her to fall to the ground.
Once she was on the floor, he repeatedly stamped and jumped on her head and repeatedly punched and kicked her on the head and body.
The attack left her badly hurt, scarred for life and placed her life in danger.
The court heard that Pollock lashed out after drinking and taking cocaine, and that officers found more of the class A drug in the passenger footwell of his black Volkswagen Touared V6.
Miss Stewart was rushed to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital by ambulance following the attack, where medics treated her injuries.
She was found to have "a large laceration to her forehead extending beyond 7cm which had visible debris within it" and a 4cm cut to the back of her head.
She also had two black eyes, a haemorrhage to her right eye and a 2cm cut to the lower left side of her jaw.
A CT scan was carried out which showed that she had suffered a small volume traumatic subarachnoid haemorrhage - a minor bleed into the fluid filled space covering the brain.
The court heard this was caused by a head injury which damages the blood vessels on the surface of the brain.
The cuts to her forehead and jaw were stitched and she was admitted to a ward under the care of the head injury team due to the bleed on her brain.
She had such bad projectile vomiting for two days that she was given sickness medication, and she was discharged after five days, on May 22, 2023.
After being discharged from hospital, she was left suffering from sensitivity to light, nausea, vomiting, persistent headaches and dizziness.
After Pollock was convicted, Paul Nelson KC, defending, said Pollock recognised he was facing "a substantial period of custody".
Temporary Judge John McCormick said: "This was clearly a fairly violent and sustained attack on the complainer, Channelle Stewart, and was the attempted murder of her.
"I will take into account your lack of previous convictions and that this appears to have been out of character."
