A 20-year-old is being prosecuted over claims they neglected a baby boy by abandoning him at a care home.

Robin McMurray is alleged to have left the child, who was two-months-old at the time, unattended in his pram.

Prosecutors claim McMurray walked away and left the tot at Millview Care Home, in Carlibar Road, Barrhead, and failed to return for him.

Court papers state McMurray "did wilfully neglect said child in a manner likely to cause him unnecessary suffering or injury to health".

It's alleged McMurray committed the offence against the child, who can't be named for legal reasons, on November 27, 2025.

McMurray is being prosecuted for breaching Section 12(1) of the Children and Young Persons (Scotland) Act 1937.

The case against McMurray, of Barrhead, East Renfrewshire, called at Paisley Sheriff Court this week.

McMurray is also charged with assaulting a police officer and behaving in a threatening or abusive way.

Court papers claim McMurray assaulted PC Kimberly Campbell by attempting to headbutt her and spitting on her face at Glasgow's Helen Street police station, in breach of Section 90(1)(a) of the Police and Fire Reform (Scotland) Act 2012.

And it's claimed McMurray continually shouted, screamed, swore and refused to stop when requested at the station on the same day, in breach of Section 38(1) of the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010.

When the case called this week, Sheriff Kevin Duffy continued it without plea until next month.
