Drivers were caught in rush hour traffic chaos this afternoon after a busy Scots road was shut when a car smashed into a barrier.
Huge tailbacks were caused following the incident at the Clyde Tunnel in Glasgow today, Tuesday, December 8, 2025.
A black Skoda vehicle collided with a barrier after leaving the southbound end of the tunnel shortly before 3pm.
The clean-up job saw paramedics, firefighters and police called to the scene, and tailbacks at both entrances to the tunnel.
Cars were tailed back as far as Anniesland Cross from the northern approach road.
And queues from the east approach road stretched back to Thornwood, at the roundabout which also leads to Glasgow's Partick area.
Police at the scene were spotted examining the car, which had the driver's door open and boot open.
The bumper had been partially ripped off, but it was unclear if any further damage had been caused to the vehicle.
One driver caught in the traffic jam said: "It's absolute chaos. Usually it takes about five minutes to get from Partick onto the Clyde Tunnel.

"After sitting in it for about 20 minutes we gave up and headed back into town to take the M8 from the Kingston Bridge instead."
Police Scotland posted on the force's Greater Glasgow Facebook page: "One lane is closed at the Clyde Tunnel southbound at Govan Road following a single vehicle crash.
"Delays are expected and please avoid the area."
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We received a call at 14.49 to attend a one-vehicle road traffic collision in the Clyde Tunnel.
"An ambulance and a critical care paramedic were dispatched to the scene, but no patients required transportation to hospital."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.42pm on Tuesday, 9 December to reports of a road traffic collision at the southbound exit of the Clyde Tunnel.
“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and firefighters assisted emergency service partners at the scene where the collision involved one car.
“There were no reported casualties and crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
Police Scotland was approached for comment.
