The mum of a seven-year-old girl rushed to hospital after a hit-and-run has branded the driver "evil to the core".
The youngster was struck in Kilmarnock on Sunday afternoon, and a manhunt was launched to track down the driver.
Police Scotland said officers were following a positive line of inquiry into the incident.
But four days on from the incident, the driver has still not been arrested, with the police probe into the collision ongoing.
The child's mother took to social media to vent her frustration at what had happened.
She posted a picture of who she claims was driving and branded the man in question a "beasty black coward".
She also hit out at "the state" the youngster was left in following the incident, in the East Ayrshire town's Sunnyside Road.
She said: "I'm not letting this go quiet or stories getting changed.
"This is the beasty black coward who ran my 7-year-old over and ran away like the beasty coward he is.
"Rather than hold his hands up he's in hiding. I wish nothing but the absolute worst for him. The state he left my baby in is evil to the core.
"I hope his face name and details get shared far and wide!"
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.55pm on Sunday, May 17, 2026, officers were called to a report of a crash involving a car and a child pedestrian on Sunnyside Road at the junction with Shortlees Road, Kilmarnock.
“Emergency services attended and a seven-year-old girl was taken to Crosshouse Hospital as a precaution.
“The driver of the car failed to stop at the scene and officers are following a positive line of enquiry.”
