A murder suspect has appeared in court charged with the birthday killing of a much-loved Scots dad.

Kyle Morrison is alleged to have knifed James Greenhorn, 61, to death last Monday - the day when he turned 23.

Morrison faced a murder charge when he appeared in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court today over the killing.

Prosecutors claim he rained knife blows on Mr Greenhorn's head and body after pursuing him in Dalness Close, in Glasgow's Tollcross area.

The incident took place at around 12.25pm on the day in question and saw emergency services racing to the scene and the area being locked down as officers investigated.

Today, Morrison made no plea to the charge and was remanded in custody, while the case against him was continued for prosecutors to investigate further.

No future court dates have been set, but he is expected to appear in the dock again in connection with the case next week.

Morrison was arrested on Saturday, February 14, 2026, and held in police custody ahead of his hearing today, Monday, February 16, 2026.

Another suspect in the killing appeared in court last week

Sean Murray appeared at the same court on Friday, also accused of murdering Mr Greenhorn by repeatedly stabbing him.

He also faced a charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice over claims he fled to Liverpool following Mr Greenhorn's death.

It's claimed he headed to Merseyside from Edinburgh Waverley train station, in a bid to avoid detection, arrest and prosecution.

Murray, of the Shettleston area of the city, also made no plea and was remanded in custody and is expected to appear in court again this week.
