Tributes paid to tragic pedestrian killed in crash as police appeal for info

A tragic pedestrian who died in a road smash has been hailed as "a much-loved son and brother".
The heartbroken family of Scott Mutch paid their respects to the 41-year-old, who lost his life following an incident on the outskirts of Aberdeen.
Scott, of Ellon, Aberdeenshire, had been walking north of Murcar, on the A92, in the early hours of Thursday, April 23, 2026, when he was struck.
The fatal collision took place at around 3.10am on the day in question and involved a blue Ford people carrier.
Today, Tuesday, May 5, 2026, he was named by Police Scotland - as the force revealed a comment from his family and appealed for information on his death.
Sergeant Lesley Morrison, North East Road Policing Unit, said “Our thoughts remain with Scott’s family and friends at this difficult time.
“Our investigation is ongoing and I would like to thank everyone that has contacted us so far.
“Anyone with information who has not yet spoken to us should contact officers through 101, quoting reference number 0317 of 23 April 2026.”
A post on the Police Scotland North East Facebook page said: "A man who died following a crash on the A92, north of Murcar, on the outskirts of Aberdeen has been named.
"The incident happened around 3.10am on Thursday, 23 April, 2026, and involved a blue Ford people carrier and a pedestrian.
"The 41-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. He has now been named as Scott Mutch from Ellon.
"His family has paid tribute to him as a much-loved son and brother and request their privacy is respected at this time."
