Afghan asylum seeker jailed for rape of teenage girl in Scots park

An asylum seeker who raped a teenage girl in a Scots park was caged for the crime today.

Rapualla Ahmadze targeted the 17-year-old in Elgin.

Ahmadze, whose age is not known for certain, forced himself on the youngster in the Moray town's Cooper Park in August last year.

He denied raping the girl, claiming they had consensual sex.

But he was convicted by a jury and was jailed for nine years at the High Court in Edinburgh today.

He was also placed on the sex ofenders' register for life.
