Alleged Lyons crime gang member back in court over hitman's son conspiracy

An alleged member of the Lyons crime gang has made his second court appearance over claims he conspired to have the son of a gangland hitman brutally attacked.

Scott Lawlor is charged with conspiring to "commit a serious assault and severely injure" Raymond Anderson Junior in a gun attack in Glasgow.

He is said to have conducted surveillance, arranged for firearms to be sourced and obtained, and arranged for cars to be used in the planned attack.

Lawlor was fully committed for trial when he appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court over the case yesterday, Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

Anderson Junior is the son of Raymond Anderson, who is serving a life sentence over a shooting at Applerow Motors, in Glasgow's Lambhill area.

Anderson Junior was also charged over the 2006 shooting, which led to a Lyons family member being killed and gang boss Steven Lyons fleeing Scotland.

Steven and ally Robert Pickett were injured after being shot in the incident, while Steven's cousin, 21-year-old Michael Lyons, was killed.

Prosecutors claim Lawlor embarked on the assault plot on the Encrochat communications network, along with another user.

Court papers allege he "did conspire with another Encrochat user", who used the name Morbidsquid, to attack Anderson between March and May 2020.

The conspiracy charge against him states that he "did discuss and agree the manner in which Raymond Anderson would be assaulted" and "conduct surveillance on his whereabouts and attempt to locate him".

The charge states he also did "arrange with Morbidsquid to source and obtain firearms and source motor vehicles for use in commission of said assault".

The charge contains a claim that it was aggravated by a connection with serious organised crime under Section 29 of the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010.

Lawlor, of Erskine, Renfrewshire, faces another conspiracy charge.

It states that between March and May 2020, at addresses in Glasgow, he conspired with Morbidsquid to attack another Encrochat user.

The charge states his true identity is unknown but that his Encro handle was 'Chunk' and that Lawlor conducted surveillance on him.

Lawlor is also said to have gone to Chunk's home address and instructed another Encro user, using the handle 'lawlesshound' to also carry out surveillance.

And the charge states that Lawlor agreed with Morbidsquid to source and obtain firearms and vehicles to be used in the assault and agreed upon a sum to be paid.

And Lawlor is said to have arranged for a vehicle used by him "to be professionally cleaned" to remove his fingerprints and help him evade justice over the crime.

That conspiracy charge also contains an aggravation of being linked to serious organised crime.

The 38-year-old also faces a charge of assault to injury over an alleged incident on April 11, 2020, in New Sneddon Street, Paisley.

The charge states that he "did assault another Encrochat user with the Encrochat handle Stronbow" by meeting him while masked and punching him on the head, leaving him injured.

The final charge Lawlor faces is that he was involved in serious organised crime, in breach of Section 28(1) of the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010.

The charge states he used Encrochat "to communicate with others in connection with serious and organised crime" and sourced, supplied and adulterated cocaine, heroin, cannabis, MDMA, and ketamine.

He is also alleged to have acquired, used, possessed and transported crime profits, and spoke about acquiring and possessing firearms and committing acts of violence.

Lawlor made no plea to the four charges against him during Tuesday's hearing, where he was represented by defence solicitor Terry Gallanagh, a partner in law firm McCusker, McElroy & Gallanagh.

No motion for bail was made during the hearing and Lawlor was remanded in custody.

No future court dates have been set.

Lawlor was one of nine men arrested following a series of raids on the Lyons crime gang.

Steven Lyons fled Scotland after the Applerow Motors shooting in 2006 and was arrested by authorities in Bali last week after touching down on the Indonesian island.
