Alleged Scots gunman in court charged with shooting pensioner

A man has appeared in court charged with assaulting a pensioner by shooting him in the leg in a broad daylight attack.
Arron Graham appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court today, Wednesday, June 17, 2026, over claims he attacked the 78-year-old last month.
Prosecutors claim he was responsible for attacking the alleged victim in the city's Springburn area on Thursday, May 28, 2026.
It's understood the pensioner was sitting in the front garden of a relative's home in Crichton Street when he was shot.
The alarm was raised and armed officers raced to the scene following the incident, which took place at around 12.40pm.
The pensioner was rushed to hospital for treatment to his wounds, which were not life-threatening, and he was later discharged.
During the police probe, suspicion fell on Graham, of Clydebank, and he was arrested and charged.
He was held in police custody overnight and appeared in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court today to face four charges.
He faces a charge of assault to severe injury and permanent disfigurement, one of reset - possession of stolen goods - and two charges under the Firearms Act 1968.
The first firearms offence he faces, brought under Section 16A, is possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
The second firearms offence, brought under Section 17(2) and (5), is illegal possession of a firearm.
Graham made no plea to the four charges and the case against him was continued for prosecutors to investigate further.
He was remanded in custody. No future court dates have been set, but he is expected to appear in the dock again in connection with the case next week.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 28-year-old man who was arrested after a man was injured by a firearm in the Springburn area of Glasgow has now been charged.
"The incident took place outside an address on Crichton Street around 12.40pm on Thursday, 28 May, 2026.
"A 78-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment and later discharged. The 28-year-old is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 16 June, 2026."
