Baby killer Nicole Blain has been jailed for life over the murder of her 19-day-old girl, tragic Thea Wilson.
The 30-year-old was jailed for a minimum of 19 years for leaving the youngster with "catastrophic" injuries, including three skull fractures.
The tragic tot also has brain damage and bleeding behind her eyes, and Blain was sentenced during a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow today, Thursday, May 28, 2026.
The heartless mum had denied her guilt but was found guilty last month of killing the tot by blunt force trauma or shaking her.
Blain, previously of Port Glasgow, claimed she had found her daughter lying on the floor of her flat in Greenock on July 14, 2023, and that the newborn had actually been injured after being dropped by another child.
Judge Lord Scott blasted her claims as "patently absurd", saying the truth was that she was actually responsible for "catastrophic deadly violence" towards Thea.
He said her lies were "a feeble attempt to evade responsibility", while cries of "monster" rang out in the public gallery as Blain was led away in handcuffs to begin her sentence.
Defence KC Thomas Ross, representing Blain, said an appeal against her conviction and sentence was underway.
The court heard the injuries were consistent with the baby being violently shaken and repeatedly hit off furniture, a wall or a hard floor.
Blain struggled with post-natal depression after Thea's birth and, on the day she died, Blain had told a social worker that she felt tired.
