Celtic Boys Club sex beast Frank Cairney accused of more abuse by ex-starlet

Sex beast Celtic Boys Club Coach Frank Cairney has been accused of more abuse - as another man has come forward.

The man claims he was abused by Cairney in the late 1980s and is seeking a six-figure sum in compensation.

The case is set to proceed at the Court of Session in Edinburgh and was confirmed by Digby Brown solicitors.

The lasw firm's Richard Pitts said: “After nearly 40 years our client is ready to take his own step towards justice.

“No further details can be disclosed at this time but we will continue to provide full support as the legal action progresses.”

It is the 29th compensation claim against the club and comes less than a year after Celtic agreed to pay more than £1million to former boys club players.

Payments were made to 24 former starlets after a group claim was brought by 28 victims of Cairney and paedophile pal Jim Torbett.

Cairney, 90, and Torbett, 78, have both been convicted of abusing a number of boys in their time with Celtic Boys Club.

The Parkhead board had claimed the boys club was a “separate entity” but lawyers for the victims insisted they were “intimately connected”.

In 2019, Cairney was jailed for three years after being convicted of nine charges of sexually abusing boys.

In 2023, he dodged another trial after his lawyers claimed he was unfit to stand trial due to his health difficulties.

Instead of a criminal trial, an examination of facts took place, with Sheriff Tom Hughes ruling he had indecently assaulted three boys.

That abuse took place between 1978 and 1989. Cairney was one of nine predators who targeted starlets from the 1960s to the 1990s.
