Clare Kilduff caged for life over murder of Ann Coll in Rutherglen

A woman has been jailed for life for murdering her friend and neighbour in a frenzied knife and hammer attack.
Clare Kilduff rained blows on Ann Coll with a hammer and repeatedly stabbed her at the victim's home in Rutherglen.
Ann, who lived alone with her dog, and Kilduff regularly walked their dogs together in their hometown of Rutherglen, Lanarkshire.
Kilduff had gone to Coll's home on the night of the murder, Friday, December 22, 2023, and launched into the savage attack.
The 40-year-old phoned 999 and lied that she had found Coll in a pool of blood in the property, in the town's Newfield Place.
Coll was pronounced dead at the scene and a police probe was launched, with Kilduff being arrested on Friday, February 2, 2024.
She was jailed for 21 years for the crime yesterday, Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the High Court in Glasgow, a day after pleading guilty to murder.
Police Scotland Detective Superintendent Lynsey Watters said: "This was a violent and shocking attack which has been devastating for Ann's family and friends.
"While no outcome can truly ease the pain of their loss, we hope this sentencing will bring some comfort to her loved ones as Kilduff faces the consequences of her actions.
"I would like to thank members of the community for their support and assistance during our investigation.
"Violent incidents such as this are not tolerated in our communities and our officers will continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice."
