Ex-soldier locked up over shotgun murder four months on from young Scots dad's killing

A former soldier has been locked up over the shotgun murder of a young Scots dad - four months on from the killing.

Nathan Gordon was remanded in custody at Hamilton Sheriff Court yesterday, Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

The 30-year-old was detained in connection with the murder of Jordan Gray, who was shot dead in his home in Motherwell, Lanarkshire, in December.

Gordon made no plea to a single charge of murder when he appeared in the dock at the Lanarkshire courthouse.

The case against Gordon, of Motherwell, was continued for prosecutors to investigate further.

No future court dates have been set but he is expected to appear in the dock again next week in connection with the case.

Police Scotland revealed his arrested in a statement on Tuesday. It read: "A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of Jordan Gray in Motherwell.

"Jordan, aged 26, suffered fatal firearm wounds within his home in Shields Court in Motherwell shortly after 10.30pm on Sunday, 14 December, 2025.

"The man was previously arrested on 12 March, 2026, and released pending further enquiries.

"On Tuesday, 21 April, 2026, he was re-arrested following the execution of a warrant and is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Wednesday 22 April, 2026.

"A 58-year-old man was also arrested and charged last month in connection and appeared at court on Thursday, 12 March."

Robert Clark appeared in the dock at Hamilton Sheriff Court twice in March over the killing of Jordan, who died at his home in Shields Court, Motherwell.

A police investigation was launched and Clark was arrested three months into the death probe.

The 58-year-old was charged with murder and possession of a shotgun, made no plea during his hearings and was remanded in custody.
