Fire service release statement over blaze which caused restaurant to close doors

Three fire engines were sent to battle a blaze which forced a Scots restaurant to close its doors.
Curry on the Corner had to remain closed on Tuesday after a fire broke out on the premises.
The eatery was shut to customers as normal due to work being carried out to get the venue back up to scratch.
And today, Wednesday, June 24, 2026, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service released a statement on the incident at the premises, in Saltcoats, Ayrshire.
A spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 1.15am on Tuesday, 23 June, to reports of a fire affecting a commercial premises on High Road, Saltcoats.
"Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances to the scene.
"There were no casualties and crews left the scene at 2.58am after ensuring the area was made safe."
The fire broke out at the sit-in and takeaway restaurant on Monday night into Tuesday morning.
On Tuesday, the smell of burning was still present in the street outside the restaurant.
Several items were seen at the back of the building, along with piles of rubble.
Locals said the rubble had been there for some time and predated the fire.
But some of the items out the back of the building appeared to have suffered fire damage.
A large bin had black charred marks on it, while a washing machine sitting nearby appeared to have been melted.
Gas canisters and other items were also seen at the back of the building, as temperatures hit over 20 degrees in the seaside town.
Workmen were also seen at the restaurant on Tuesday, along with what is believed to be members of staff.
A post on the restaurant's Facebook page on Tuesday said: "Unfortunately there was a fire in the restaurant last night, which means Curry in the Corner will be closed today.
"Thankfully, the fire was spotted quickly by our neighbours and was contained within the kitchen area.
We are incredibly grateful that nobody was hurt.
"Our builders are in today, working tirelessly to get everything safe, repaired and ready to reopen as soon as possible.
"We would like to say a huge thank you to our neighbours for raising the alarm and to the firefighters for their quick response and hard work.
"We will keep everyone updated and, all going well, we hope to reopen tomorrow.
"Thank you for your understanding and support."
