Firebomb thug caged for torching home of Kevin "Gerbil" Carroll's widow

A firebomb thug has been jailed for torching the home of Kevin "Gerbil" Carroll's widow during Scotland's raging gang war.

Owen Martin set fire to the property of Kelly "Bo" Green in Glasgow after pouring petrol onto the building in the middle of the night.

She is the daughter of the late Jamie Daniel, who was boss of the Daniel crime family until he died of cancer.

The 21-year-old targeted the property, in Glasgow's Drumchapel area, in the early hours of the morning in May last year, while Kelly and others were asleep.

The 45-year-old, her son Konnor, 21, a pal of his and three kids fled the burning home after the blaze broke out.

The blaze was started as part of the gang war between former Union Bears leader Ross "Miami" McGill and Edinburgh-based cocaine kingpin Mark Richardson,

Richardson is a close ally of the Glasgow-based Daniel crime family, who counted Gerbil as a feared enforcer until his death in an Asda car park in 2010.

Following an investigation, and part of enquiries into violent incidents in the East and West of Scotland under Operation Portaledge, officers arrested Martin.

Martin was sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Court yesterday, Wednesday, April 28, 2026 and was jailed for three years over the firebombing.

Detective Chief Superintendent Dave Ferry said: “This was a reckless and dangerous act and Owen Martin will now face the consequences of his actions.

“Today’s sentence sends a message that there is no place for this type of behaviour in our communities.”

Fraser Gibson, Procurator Fiscal of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS), said: “Owen Martin’s criminal conduct could easily have had tragic consequences and cost lives.

“The prevalence of serious organised crime groups has a corrosive impact on our communities.

“We will continue working with the police and other agencies as a member of Scotland’s Serious and Organised Crime Taskforce to ensure that these crimes are detected and those responsible prosecuted using all measures at our disposal.”
