Grant McKinnon behind bars over Elizabeth Colligan murder

Grant McKinnon is now behind bars after being charged with the murder of Elizabeth Colligan in Glasgow.
He made no plea to the two charges he faces when he appeared in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court over the killing yesterday, Wednesday, April 23, 2026.
He has been charged with the murder of the 82-year-old and also faces a charge under the Communications Act 2003.
The case was continued for prosecutors to investigate further and McKinnon, of no fixed abode, was remanded in custody.
No future court dates have been set, but he is expected to make a second appearance in connection with the case next week.
He was detained by Police Scotland officers on Tuesday, April 22, 2026, following a four-day manhunt.
Elizabeth, who was known as Betty, was found dying in the street in Glasgow's Carntyne area in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The emergency services were called to Cardowan Road at around 4am, where the former lollipop lady was found stricken.
