Jack Dragsnes behind bars after being charged over murder of Jack Mellon
A man is behind bars after being charged over the murder of a teenager in Glasgow earlier this week.
Jack Dragsnes is accused of killing 17-year-old Jack Mellon in the city's Milton area during an incident on Wednesday.
A police probe was launched after the teenager died following a disturbance in Ashgill Road on October 14.
Suspicion fell on Dragnses during the investigation and he was arrested and held in police custody before appearing in court this afternoon, Friday, October 16, 2026.
He appeared from custody at Glasgow Sheriff Court to face three charges - knife possession, murder, and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
The 22-year-old, of Glasgow, made no plea to the three charges he faces, and the case against him was continued for prosecutors to investigate further.
No future court dates have been set, but Dragsnes is expected to make his second appearance in connection with the case next week.
Detective Inspector Lynn Donnelly said: “Our thoughts first and foremost are with Jack’s family and friends, and all those affected by this incident.
“We will have a police presence in the local area as we continue to conduct our enquiries, and I’d like to thank those who have already assisted with our investigation.”
Chief Inspector Mhairi Crawford said: “We know the loss of a young life is felt within our communities, and I would like to reassure the public that we are working tirelessly to fully investigate what happened.
“Specialist and uniformed officers continue to work together following this incident and anyone with information or concerns should speak with an officer.
“We know there were a lot of people in the area who may have been affected and I’d like to thank those who assisted the emergency services at the time.”
