Man and woman accused over £1.6million Scots cocaine bust released on bail
A man and woman have been released on bail after appearing in court charged over a £1.6million cocaine bust.
Shay Dooley and Kayla Dooley were arrested after being detained at a flat just yards from Glasgow Central Station.
Officers raided the property in question on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, and found cocaine believed to be worth the seven-figure sum.
A six-figure sum of cash was also found in the property, in the city's Holm Street, during the operation.
Shay and Kayla were held in police custody overnight before appearing in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court yesterday, Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
They both made no plea to the two charges they faced - being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs, and acquiring, using and possessing criminal property.
The charges are brought under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and the cases against them were continued for prosecutors to investigate further.
No future court dates have been set and they were both released on a bail. They are expected to go on trial next year.
Following their arrests, Detective Chief Inspector Laura Sands hailed the significance of the police operation.
She said: “This significant recovery highlights our determination to protect the public by disrupting the trade of illegal drugs and preventing them causing harm in our communities.
“It also underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.
“Information from the public is vital to help us continue this work and I’d ask anyone with concerns or information about drug crime in their area to report this to us.
“You can contact police directly on 101, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
