A man was rushed to hospital last night after 'being slashed' - as a suspect was arrested over the alleged attack.
The 20-year-old is said to have received numerous stitches following an altercation in Ardrossan, Ayrshire.
It's understood the incident, which happened about 11pm, took place near to the junction of Stanley Road and Dalry Road, just yards from Stanley Primary School.
Sources say trouble flared between two different groups, with males and females involved, and that one man then assaulted the other.
The alleged victim was rushed to hospital for treatment and was discharged after medics tended to his wounds.
The suspect is understood to have been arrested at a property further up the street in the early hours of this morning, Monday, April 6, 2026.
Police Scotland confirmed the incident and said the suspect is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court tomorrow, Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in connection.
A spokesperson said: "Around 11pm on Sunday, 5 April, 2026, we were called to a serious assault on Stanley Road in Ardrossan.
"A 20-year-old man attended hospital for treatment before being discharged.
"A 23-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He’s due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 7 April, 2026."
