A murder investigation is underway following the death of a pensioner in Glasgow - as police urged the public to stay away from a man last spotted at the scene.
Elizabeth Colligan was found injured in the east end of the city in the early hours of Saturday, April 18, 2026.
The emergency services were scrambled to attend but the 82-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, in Cardowan Road, in the city's Carntyne area.
Grant McKinnon was last seen in the area at the same time and is now missing, with police urging the public to stay away from the "dangerous" 30-year-old - and call 999 if you spot him.
Detective Inspector Gordon Walker said: “Our thoughts remain with Elizabeth’s family and friends during this very difficult time. We are continuing to offer them our support as the investigation progresses.
“Officers are following a positive line of enquiry and work is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what has happened. This includes door to door enquiries in the local area, as well as a detailed review of all available CCTV footage.
“We are especially keen to speak with anyone who saw or heard anything around 4am on Saturday, 18 April, 2026.”
Chief Inspector Jon Watters said: “We understand that this will be concerning for the local community, and we want to reassure the public that extensive enquiries are underway.
"There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days, and anyone with information or concerns is encouraged to speak with officers.”
Anyone with any information can contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 0523 of 18 April, 2026. Crimestoppers can also be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Police Scotland appealed to the public for information to help track McKinnon down.
He is described as white, 6ft tall and slim, with a shaved head. When he was last seen he was wearing blue jeans.
He was also wearing a black jacket which had either a red hood or red lining in the hood.
