Police probe into early morning attack on woman 'ongoing'

Police Scotland has said an investigation into an early morning attack on a woman is still 'ongoing'.
The woman was targeted in the seaside town of Ardrossan in the early hours of Tuesday and a police probe was launched.
The street in question was locked down for hours, with officers stationed at the scene and residents having to take a diversion because of the road closure.
The force are yet to publicly release a description of the attacker or any details about the attack in the North Ayrshire town.
And when asked by Scotlight for an update on the investigation, a spokesperson said: "Enquiries remain ongoing."
On Tuesday, the day of the attack, a spokesperson said: “Around 4am on Tuesday, 30 June, we received a report of a woman being assaulted in the Sorbie Road area of Ardrossan.
“Enquiries are ongoing and at an early stage.”
It is unclear what time the cordon was put in place, but it was up before 6am and affected commuters in the neighbouring residential streets.
The cordon was still in place at 11am, with police cars with officers inside stationed at either side of the cordon, on Knochrivoch Place.
The road in question leads to Sorbie Road and Sorbie Farm, an Arla Dairy Farm, and a sign for Arla could be seen behind the police vehicle stationed at the top end of the cordon.
One resident said: "I left for work before 6am and the police had the road taped off. I had to go round the long way to get out of the estate."
Residents, dog walkers and the postman delivering in the street said they had no idea what had happened.
The cordon was removed later on Tuesday, but nearly a week on from the incident no suspect has been arrested.
