A serial rapist who claimed his 14-year-old victim stole his sperm to have his baby has been jailed over his abuse of the youngster.
Jordan Lee Wilkins was caged for nine years on Friday for repeatedly raping her so often that she became pregnant with his child.
He was also told he will be supervised for two years once released from custody, and was banned from approaching or contacting the youngster for 20 years.
A court heard he abused the schoolgirl, who can't be named for legal reasons, as often as three times a week.
The repeated abuse took place over a seven month period, but he claimed he'd never raped her or had sex with her.
Wilkins, of Strood, Medway, Kent, said that she set him up and somehow stole his sperm to impregnate herself in Moffat, Dumfries and Galloway.
The 28-year-old explained: "That's what she says. She's lying. It's my baby but I have no idea how she's done this.
"She's done what she needed to do to get hold of my sperm.
"I'm not sure how she managed to do it but she must've found a way to do so."
He made the claims while giving evidence in his own defence at the High Court in Kilmarnock.
The youngster spoke about the abuse she suffered in a video recorded Joint Investigative Interview.
The interview, which was recorded in 2022, was played to the jury during his trial, which took place last year.
In it, she revealed Wilkins raped her on a number of occasions and that he would clamp his hand over her mouth to silence her when she told him to stop.
She explained: "I kept telling him to stop but he didn't listen."
The youngster became tearful and was so upset that the interview was halted and finished on another occasion.
Speaking about her son, she said: "I love him, he's adorable.
"It is a shame how it happened - I don't think about that when I see him."
And she told how her mum "dosed her up on dulcolax because they thought" she "was constipated" when she was actually having labour pains.
It took less than an hour for the jury of eight women and seven men to find him unanimously guilty of a single charge of rape.
When he was convicted, Lady Poole remanded the former tree surgeon in custody ahead of sentencing.
She told the ex-warehouse worker: "You have been convicted of the forceful rape of [your victim].
"She was only 14 and you were 10 years older. You did not use contraception, which resulted in the child being conceived.
"The consequences for your victim, of your behaviour, are long term and serious."
She placed Wilkins, who also worked as a delivery driver, on the sex offenders' register.
He showed no emotion as he was led from the dock in handcuffs, while his sister, who had supported him through the trial, sobbed loudly in the public gallery.
He was convicted in November and was first due to be sentenced in December.
The case was then adjourned until January and then for a third time until earlier this month.
It was adjourned for a fourth time and Wilkins was finally sentenced on Friday when the case called at the High Court n Edinburgh.
