Scots migrant hotel resident guilty of sexually assaulting two women in one night

A migrant hotel resident has been convicted of sexually assaulting two women in a Scots town on the same night.
Muhammad Sheikhi, who came to the UK by boat, preyed on nightclub goers, targeting the women in Falkirk in the early hours of the morning.
The 33-year-old was arrested at the Cladhan Hotel, which has seen a number of protests from both pro and anti-immigration activists.
He was convicted today, Friday, May 29, 2026, and was placed on the Sex Offenders' Register.
He was remanded in custody over the crimes, which saw him abusing the women in November last year.
Both of his victims were in their early 20s, and the immigrant placed his hands under their clothing.
Stirling Sheriff Court heard he hugged the first woman, kissed her on the face and mouth and put his hands under her skirt at around 2am.
Sheikhi, who is being accommodated in the UK by the Home Office, pinned his second victim against a tree and put his hands inside her clothes at around 3.30am.
He denied sexually assaulting the women and went on trial before a jury. He claimed he had been roaming the streets as he did not have any friends at the hotel.
But the jury convicted him following a four-day trial, and Sheiki, who was assisted by an Arabic interpreter in court, will now be sentenced over the crimes next month.
Speaking after he was convicted, Detective Chief Inspector Scott Roxburgh, of Forth Valley CID, said: “Sheikhi will now face the consequences of his despicable actions.
"I hope this brings comfort to the two women. I also hope this conviction gives confidence to anyone who is the victim of sexual crime to come forward.
"We will thoroughly investigate reports made to us and we have specially trained officers to provide support.
