A serial rapist claimed his schoolgirl victim stole his sperm to have his baby.

Jordan Lee Wilkins repeatedly raped the 14-year-old so often that she became pregnant with his child.

A court heard he abused the girl, who can't be named for legal reasons, as often as three times a week over a seven month period.

But the 28-year-old denied raping her on a number of occasions in Moffat, Dumfries and Galloway.

He claimed she had stolen his sperm and set him up by impregnating herself.

Giving evidence in his own defence during his trial, Wilkins, of Strood, Medway, Kent, denied he'd ever had sex with her or raped her.

He said: "That's what she says. She's lying. It's my baby but I have no idea how she's done this.

"She's done what she needed to do to get hold of my sperm.

"I'm not sure how she managed to do it but she must've found a way to do so."

The youngster said she did not know she was pregnant until her waters broke and hours later was holding a baby boy.

And she said she blocks out how he was conceived whenever she looks at him, describing her ordeal at Wilkins' hands as "a shame".

The youngster did not give evidence in person, with a video recorded Joint Investigative Interview she gave in 2022 played to the jury at the High Court in KIlmarnock.

In it, she said Wilkins raped her on a number of occasions.

She said she would ask him to stop and try to push him off but that he would clamp his hand over her mouth to silence her.

She said: "I kept telling him to stop but he didn't listen."

The youngster became so upset and tearful that the interview had to be cut short and resumed another day.

Speaking about her son, she said: "I love him, he's adorable.

"It is a shame how it happened - I don't think about that when I see him."

And she told how her mum "dosed her up on dulcolax because they thought" she "was constipated" when she was actually having labour pains.

The jury of eight women and seven men took less than an hour to reject his claims and find him unanimously guilty of a single charge of rape.

Lady Poole remanded the first offender in custody ahead of sentencing and told him: "You have been convicted of the forceful rape of [your victim].

"She was only 14 and you were 10 years older. You did not use contraception, which resulted in the child being conceived.

"The consequences for your victim, of your behaviour, are long term and serious."

She placed Wilkins on the sex offenders' register and told him the exact period he will be on it will be decided when he is sentenced.

Wilkins showed no emotion as he was led from the dock in handcuffs.

His sister, who supported him through the trial, sobbed loudly in the public gallery as the unemployed former tree surgeon, warehouse worker and delivery driver was taken away.

Wilkins was convicted in November and was due to be sentenced in December.

But the case has been adjourned on a number of occasions and he will be sentenced later.
