Teenager 'suffers fractured skull' after gang attack outside Scots McDonald's

A teenager has been hospitalised after being attacked by a gang outside a Scots McDonald's.
The 18-year-old is said to have been left with a fractured skull after being set upon in Bathgate, West Lothian.
The incident took place at around 11.20pm yesterday, Friday, June 12, 2026, outside the restaurant.
And the youngster is also said to have been left with bruising and bleeding on the brain.
A source said: "This young lad was an 18-year-old. He is in a serious way.
"He had bleeding and bruising on the brain and a fractured skull.
"So thankful for the people that helped him. Good people still around to help the young yins who are in trouble."
Members of the public rushed to help the youngster after he was targeted at the eatery, in the town's Whitburn Road.
One woman took to social media to say she had witnessed the attack and would help police with their investigation.
She wrote on Facebook: "Me and my partner witnessed a young boy be seriously assaulted at McDonald's Bathgate last night around 11.30pm.
"We had made the 999 call and waited with him until the ambulance had taken him.
"I've been up all night thinking about the poor boy and am really looking to hopefully see if he's well and okay.
"Also if family/friends need some info my messages are open and I'm more than happy to help wherever I can."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.20pm on Friday, 12 June, 2026, police received a report of a disturbance involving a group of youths in Whitburn Road, Bathgate.
"Officers attended and traced one youth who had been assaulted and he was taken to hospital by ambulance.
"Enquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible."
The Scottish Ambulance Service was also approached for comment.
