Thugs guilty of "brutal, pre-meditated" murder of John Taylor
A pair of thugs have today been convicted of the "brutal, pre-meditated" murder of John Taylor.
Kieran Lindsay and Marshall Strachan killed the 44-year-old at a property in Kilwinning in October 2024.
They denied their guilt but were convicted today, Wednesday, July 8, 2026, following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.
The 21-year-olds will be sentenced next month over the murder of the 44-year-old, who was found seriously injured.
He was discovered within a property in the North Ayrshire town's Pollock Crescent at around 1.55pm on the day in question, Friday, October 18, 2024.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and a murder probe was launched, and the killers were arrested during the probe.
Co-accused Kiey O’Connor, 28, pleaded guilty to drugs offences and attempting to defeat the ends of justice in connection with the murder.
Speaking after they were convicted, Detective Superintendent Graham McCreadie said: “This was a brutal, pre-meditated and targeted murder.
"Lindsay and Strachan now rightly face the consequences of their actions. Our thoughts remain with the John Taylor’s family and friends at this difficult time.
"Nothing will ever make up for their loss, but I hope they can find some comfort in seeing justice being done. This investigation involved a number of specialisms, including officers from the Major Investigation Team and local division, which resulted in prolonged police activity in the Kilwinning area.
"I want to thank residents for their patience and support throughout our enquiries We care deeply about violence and how it affects the communities we serve.
"Police Scotland remains committed to addressing the harmful effects of violent crime and supporting victims."
