Urgent search for man reported missing in Edinburgh this afternoon

A police search is underway to track down a man who was reported missing from Edinburgh this afternoon.
Rhys Williams was last seen in the city's Northfield Avenue area at around 12pm today, Sunday, June 7, 2026.
Police Scotland said the 51-year-old, who is around 5ft 7ins tall, is believed to have left the area in his blue Vauxhall Corsa.
The force said he has white/grey hair and is of stocky build, and is believed to have been wearing a t=shirt and blue shorts.
Inspector Stewart Massie said: “Enquiries to trace Rhys are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen him to contact us.
“We’d also appeal to Rhys directly – if you see this, please get in touch with us.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 1464 of Sunday, 7 June, 2026.”
An appeal to trace Rhys released by the force said: "We are appealing for the public’s help to trace 51-year-old Rhys Williams, who has been reported missing in Edinburgh.
"Rhys was last seen around 12pm on Sunday, 7 June, 2026, in the Northfield Avenue area. He is believed to have left in his blue Vauxhall Corsa.
"He is described as around 5ft 7in tall, of stocky build, with white/grey hair. He is believed to be wearing blue shorts and a t-shirt."
