Warrant issued for arrest of man accused of attacking woman

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman at his home in Paisley.
Thilan Liyanage, of Laighpark View, Shortroods, is alleged to have forced himself on a woman last month.
Prosecutors claim he attacked the female, who can't be named for legal reasons, at the property in question on August 6, 2026.
Court papers allege the 31-year-old, who is believed to be Sri Lankan, pushed the woman on her body and then pinned her down.
He is accused of touching her and kissing her on the head and body, before undressing her and performing a sex act on her.
He is charged with breaching Sections 2 and 3 of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009.
He was due to appear in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court on Thursday, September 3, 2026, in connection with the case.
But he did not appear at court and Sheriff Kevin Duffy issued a warrant for his failure to appear at court.
